      GOODRICH, ELIZUR, clergyman, astronomer, author, was born Oct. 26, 1734, in Wethersfield, Conn. He was an able astronomer, and spent much of his time in calculating the eclipses of each successive year, and published the fullest and most accurate account of the aurora borealis of 1780. He was a candidate for governor of Connecticut; and was the author of a volume of sermons and addresses. He died Nov. 22, 1797, in North Norfolk, Conn.
