You know, your Dad and Mother were two of my all-time favorite people. I dearly loved both of them. My memory of your Dad goes back to when I was little and he teased, tickled and tossed me about. They loved weddings. Going to a wedding was about the best thing they coul do, so when Tom and Wendy decided to get married in our back yard in Spokane in the Worlds Fair year of 1974 I made sure they got an invitation. I remember telling someone a few days before the wedding, "Don't be surprised if Slim
and Mable show up--they love weddings". About half an hour before the wedding was to start one of the kids came in and said, "Dad, there's an old couple sitting in a car across the street and I think they're here for the weddinf". I said, "And I'll bet I know who it is". (At this point I still get tears in my eyes after thirty years of telling the story). I went out
and sure enough here were those two old rascals--they'd driven into Spokane at the height of the Expo without a reservation, found a motel room and were ready to enjoy a wedding. I got them settled in the back yarrd and assigned a kid to make sure they were introduced to all the guests. Johns boy Christofer was little then so your Dad played with him much as he had played with me some fifty years earlier. Following the ceremony we broke out the bubbly and your Dad enjoyed several glasses--getting a mild glow on. Your
Mother sat quietly, smiling and enjoying watching him enjoy himself. We later fed them well as they planned to drive on down to Orofino yet that evening. They had a great time and, I'm sure, rated that as a good wedding. Their presence sure added to our enjoyment of the day. A wonderful pair. Source: Gib Ramage in a letter to Marilyn Colgan Farrier

My dad was a great joker and kidder. My mother wouldn't marry him until he had a good job, whatever that meant, and they went together for ten years. Guess she was waiting for that "good" job! He was a really handsome man when he was young, old too for that matter, and my mother told how her friends called him the "Arrow Shirt Man". There must have been an ad or something. Dad bought out his partner in the lumber yard, don't know what year that was but he liquidated and retired about 1964, just guessing. They both loved working outside, Mother in her flowers and Dad just on the property. Dad just loved going for drives. Source: Marilyn J (Colgan) Farrier
